Construction Product Reg.

Since July 2014, structural steelwork and aluminum products fall under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).

If you manufacture or install steel or aluminum products for the UK or EAA market, there is a legal requirement to be certified by a Notified Body.

Your Responsibility

Steel strutures

It is now a criminal offence to supply structural metal work unless it conforms to the BS EN 1090-1:2009 +A1:2011 standard.

What you need?

If your company is involved in the manufacture of steel or aluminum products used in the construction industry, it is likely you will need a Quality Management System (QMS) to control the manufacturing process.

This process should start when you receive your initial enquiry and will end when you reach the final stage of issuing a 'Declaration of Performance' (CE Marking) to your Client for your product.

This process will need to be validated and certified by a third-party Notifying Body to confirm it fulfills the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 and BS EN 1090-2.

How we will support you?

We will guide you through the process to comply with the Product Construction Regulation (PCR) by gaining BS 1090 accreditation

This involves:-

  • Evaluating your manufacturing process to agree whether or not your product falls under the requirements of BS1090
  • Create a plan that sets out the steps and completion date/s for undertaking this work
  • Develop a Quality Management System (QMS) which includes; writing processes, procedures, checklist, and other documents
  • Train your staff so they have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities within your QMS manufacturing process.
  • Give suitable training to the role of 'Responsible Welding Coordinator' as required by the standard
  • Arrange and support the audit and validation of your QMS system with an approved third-party Notifying Body
